The ticketed events are COVID-safe, with warm meals being delivered to guests’ cars in time for iftar (the sunset meal with which Muslims break their fasts during the holy month of Ramadan). Funds raised during the event will go toward Islamic Relief’s international orphan sponsorship program.
“During the month of Ramadan, Muslims are encouraged to provide food for those who are fasting or hungry. It is also a time for charitable giving. The drive-through events are a good way for us to get together as a community to accomplish these goals while keeping everyone safe,” says Omar Taliani, regional manager for Islamic Relief’s western team.
There is also a drive-in iftar event taking place in Calgary on May 1. About 20 drive-in and drive-throughs will take place across Canada for the month of Ramadan to raise funds for Islamic Relief’s charitable programs.
To confirm your attendance at the drive-in events, arrange interviews or for other media requests, please contact Sanam Islam, communications coordinator at Islamic Relief Canada, at [email protected] or call 437 970 5656.
