Calgary, AB – Staff and volunteers from Islamic Relief Canada’s Calgary team will be loading up an 18-wheeler truck today at the Akram Jomaa Islamic Centre (2624 39 Ave NE, Calgary) from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Islamic Relief Canada has procured items such as canned soups and vegetables, shampoo, soap, bottled water, detergent, mops, buckets and more using funds raised for the B.C. flood response.

The team has also asked the local community to donate items for the truck. A Calgary Islamic school is one of the organizations that has stepped up to collect and donate items. An Islamic Relief Canada spokesperson and the principal of the Islamic school will be available for interviews today at the Akram Jomaa Islamic Centre.

The semi-trailer truck was previously in Edmonton, where Islamic Relief Canada’s Edmonton team and local community members collected items for British Columbians. The next stops for the truck will be Merritt and Princeton, B.C., where the goods will be equally divided between the two communities. The truck is tentatively scheduled to depart from Calgary on Monday.
